Five coffee stops in Soho & Neighboring

Soho refers to South of Houston Street and is home to some of New York’s best shopping with a variety of stores from trendy boutiques and upscale designers to highstreet favorites and chains. Originally an artist’s haven before making way for the shopping district, Soho is a firm favorite for residential loft living. Neighboring Nolita, deriving from North of Little Italy, extends the shopping district and includes some of the best kept secrets.

Here are five great coffee shop picks.

Café Grumpy Nolita
177 Mott Street
Situated moments away from Little Italy, this Café Grumpy location is the perfect spot to grab your daily dose of caffeine amidst this bustling area on the edge of Chinatown. A bit smaller than other Grumpy locations, this shop facilitates the sort of grab-and-go environment that comes with its busy location. But have no fear, the quality service is never compromised — and neither is the exquisite coffee. And the location couldn’t be more perfect. Pop in for a quality caffeine hit whilst exploring the attractions of Downtown Manhattan.

Café Integral
149 Elizabeth Street
With its clean, minimalist aesthetic, Café Integral exudes calm amidst its crowded Nolita location. The smart design maximizes seating, making the shop a comfortable spot to meet with friends. Shop owner César Martin Vega is committed to serving beautiful Nicaraguan coffees, a promise that is evident as soon as you taste his pour-overs. In addition to the Nicaraguan offerings, the café has crafted a unique selection of specialty beverages, including the delicious Matcha Fizz and Horchata Latte. One not to be missed!

Everyman Espresso Soho
301 W Broadway
Everyman enlivens the statutory bare brick walls with colorful tiles reminiscent of a Mondrian painting, and with well-designed lighting they make the room a visual delight. That would be reason enough to come here, but the drinks – proclaimed as “Damn Fine Coffee” in lettering on windows, grinders and elsewhere – make a visit even more urgent. The gleaming La Marzocco is used to pull fabulous shots, including single-origin specials. People come with kids, friends, devices and headphones. It’s a nice mix, producing a friendly neighborhood café with real charm.

Happy Bones
394 Broome Street
This shop used to be a walk-in refrigerator, if you can believe it, and before that, an alleyway. But with some imaginative design, it’s become a fashionable cafe instead. Happy Bones is a neighborhood favorite, popular for flat whites and long blacks, drinks made popular since jumping over from Australia and New Zealand. The well-defined space is both industrial and elegant in feel, the white palette creating an excellent environment for clearing your thoughts. It sports only a few tables, but it’s a beautiful spot to grab a drink before exploring the neighborhood.

Two Hands Nolita
164 Mott Street
The laidback attitude at this Aussie-run shop is more than welcome in this busy neighborhood. They’ve got a full menu of food with favorites like avocado toast and acai bowls, and though the flat white reigns here, all their coffee drinks are good and strong, made with delicious Café Integral. The space is bright and airy with its pristinely white interior and accents of greenery. This is a neighborhood favorite that gets packed on both weekends and weekdays, so hang with other coffee lovers and ride the wave over to this buzzing spot.
